Septic Tanks for Wastewater Management

Properties in rural areas that aren’t connected to a sewerage system need access to a septic tank system for wastewater management. At Halgan Pty Ltd, we can provide cost-effective septic tanks that have the ability to moderately treat basic residential sewage. Wastewater flows through these chambers, reducing solids and organics in an anaerobic bacterial environment. Whether you need a small and compact septic tank or one with a high capacity, there’s nothing we can’t help you with.

Facilitates Basic Wastewater Treatment

If you’re looking for septic tank systems and solutions, we’ve got you covered. Our range comprises a variety of sizes and models to choose from to suit your requirements. These underground chambers are made of polyethylene, facilitating basic wastewater treatment through settling and anaerobic processes. Baffles or a Biofilter can further reduce solids and organics generated by households and other similar applications. Our septic tanks are rotomoulded and boast a one-piece design that’s lightweight, easy to transport, and resistant to cracking, rusting and corrosion.

Cost-Effective Solutions for Larger Applications

For larger wastewater treatment applications, Halgan R-Series septic tanks are a suitable and cost-effective solution. These have low-maintenance requirements, making them ideal for remote and rural households. Additionally, they’re double-walled HDPR units which means they’re robust, lightweight, groundwater-stable up to body centre, easy to clean, and easy to handle.

When Do You Need a Septic Tank?

A septic system is an onsite wastewater management system that’s required if your property isn’t connected to the reticulated sewerage system. This allows you to treat and then dispose of sewage consisting of greywater from showers, hand basins, washing machines and kitchens as well as blackwater such as toilet waste.

How Often Do Septic Tanks Need Emptying?

The frequency at which domestic septic tanks need to be emptied depends on how many litres the tank can hold and how many people use the system. Generally, most tanks should be pumped out every 2 to 5 years. Periodic emptying will prevent overflows, blockages, bad odours and damage to the pumps. This also helps ensure the system continues to function at peak condition.

How Can You Tell When a Septic Tank is Full?

There are several subtle or obvious signs that indicate your septic system is full, including:

Water pooling around the tank
Sinks, showers and baths draining slowly
Bad odours coming from the septic tank
Drains and toilets backing up
Gurgling pipes and trouble flushing
Overly green and healthy looking lawns

The Halgan Difference

Halgan provides custom grease traps to help any business find the perfect solution, whether you’re undergoing expansion, undertaking a renovation or starting from scratch. There is a wide range of grease trap sizes on the market, and Halgan is prepared to find the right one for you. Consider what size will suit your needs best, as a trap that is too large will waste space and may be an unnecessary cost to your business.

We offer small grease traps that can be installed simply and without too much cost to you, as no advanced lifting equipment is required. Alternatively, we can supply large grease traps that are perfect for large restaurants or butchers with a huge output of grease and oil.

Halgan grease traps meet all relevant certification requirements, including Green Star, Standards Australia WaterMark Certification, and Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA). On top of this, we have become the first pre treatment manufacturer in Australia to achieve AS-NZS 1546.1 Certification for some of our modular grease traps.
