Welcome to the team Damian

Last month we welcomed Damian Shaw  to the team as our SA/NT/WA Business Development Manager. We’re excited to have him onboard and asked him to share a bit of his history and why he’s joined the team..

Before working at Halgan, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
When I was in my twenties and working at Telstra I was project manager for special events. Now this was well before mobile technology took over our lives. This was the time of cables and pits and landlines. Amongst the big events I oversaw : The Australian Formula One Grand Prix, Big Day Out music festival and concerts for mega stars Michael Jackson and Madonna. Met a lot of interesting people, got to attend some spectacular events.

Why did you want to join Halgan?
Halgan is a well-respected name in the industry, having dealt with them in the past I was confident of my decision. The company is hungry for success and striving to improve and they are characteristics that appeal to myself.

 What are 3 words you think describe Halgan?

What are you looking forward to working at Halgan?
As cliche as it sounds the challenge. There is a lot to learn and I like to be knowledgeable in my chosen field. So I will derive that challenge out of my learning and desire to improve. I also look forward to the rapport building, business relationship side of the job. In the helter skelter, cut and thrust of today’s world, the art of old-fashioned conversation can still play a major role 

Tell us a little about yourself?
When I was just 16 I moved to the big smoke of Adelaide from a small seaside town called Wallaroo. I have an amazing wife Lisa and a wonderful daughter Brooklyn.
I love all sport and have recently been invited to participate in a Level 3 AFL coaching course which will have to wait because work is the main priority. I have had the pleasure of coaching a handful of young players who have gone onto to play Aussie Rules at the highest level. I also own a greyhound called Charlie Brother who had now won 16 races, he is so placid and when he does retire, he will get the best home.
